What Do We Do About These Emotions?

How do we be with our emotions?

“You have to know the emotions are just temporary, they will pass through if you let them”

Step one: Acknowledge how you are feeling right here, right now. Allow the emotions to be released. Meaning, if you are sad then allow the tears to flow. If you are angry, go for an angry run or beat a boxing bag. If you feel confused go and be outside in nature and just sit. If you are overwhelmed or have anxiety, concentrate on your breath for 5 minutes.

 

Step two: Take stock of the current situation. See if for what it is factually, do not make it worse or better. What is the facts of the situation? What is true? Write it down on a paper.

 

Step three: What are your concerns? What is worrying you? What is causing you to feel these emotions? Categorise this if you need to but do not worry about it making sense. Basically dump out all big and small concerns.

 

Step four: Support yourself. Now is the time to answer the questions. What are your values? How can you implement these into the situation to get a good outcome. What is the worse that could happen and if it happened, how would you be able to work through it? What can you do to prevent the worst from happening? What are you taking personally that is preventing you from seeing the bigger picture? How can you improve your communication? Are you allowing yourself rest and compassion so you can function at your peak during the crucial times? Who’s opinions are you allowing to infiltrate your mind and are they helpful to the overall outcome or not?

 

Step five: Make a plan. Make a step by step plan of what needs to be done. Head the plan with what your intention is. List all big and small tasks and give them realistic due dates, and of course any external deadlines.

 

Step six: Gather the resources needed to execute your plan.

 

Step Seven: Keep your intention in mind, ask for guidance from a higher power and give thanks for all that you have. Take inspired, committed and clear act.
